Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to remain Manchester United manager for at least the upcoming clash with Tottenham Hotspur as the Red Devils agonize over which direction to take next.
The Norwegian’s position at Old Trafford has been severely weakened by last weekend’s thrashing at home to Liverpool.
Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are all names which have been linked with the Premier League giants, but only the Italian appears to be a credible lead.
According to our insider Fabrizio Romano, United are locked in internal discussions about Solskjaer’s future with a majority on the board keen to see the Scandinavian former player remain in charge for Spurs on Saturday with Sir Alex Ferguson part of that group.
However, Solskjaer remains under major pressure with Conte ready to accept a move to Manchester if an offer is made.
Less than 24 hours before Romano’s latest update, he affirmed that the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss wants the United post and is ready to say yes while the club deliberate.
The most likely scenario now is that Solskjaer leads the team until at least the Spurs clash on Saturday but wither another international break coming up soon, it could be that United take their time to make a decision on where they want to go from here.
