For the Field of Dreams Game on Thursday in Dyersville, Iowa, the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds presented their unique uniforms. Both of the outfits are a homage to what the respective teams wore in the first decade of the 1990s.
The Reds will serve as the official home team, while the Cubs will don away gear.
Versions of the Cubs’ home jerseys from the 1927–1929 seasons will be worn, while their hats will pay homage to the 1914 season. The Reds, on the other hand, will wear attire from that team’s 1914 campaign.
Chicago’s uniforms will be cream in color and feature a cub gripping a bat inside of a wishbone-shaped “C.” On the front of their jerseys, the same cub gripping a bat will also be featured on the headwear.
The Reds will wear white pinstripe jerseys with a wishbone “C” surrounding the word “REDS” in the meantime. The hats used by Cincinnati will have a crimson stylised “C” with pinstripes.
After the original Field of Dreams Game between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees on August 12, 2021, this is the second iteration of the event. The White Sox prevailed 9-8 in that action-packed game thanks to a walk-off home run by shortstop Tim Anderson.
